A feminist response to Yves Klein “Anthropométries de l’Epoque bleue” performances in the 60’s, where he used naked models as brushes to paint a big canvas.
The performance is a response to the male dominated tradition in the field of painting, were the painter was usually male, painting a passive female sitter. For centuries there were only male artists who interpreted the female form in the art. There I am in the role of the artist and the subject at the same time, and by doing so I am breaking down the male dominated hierarchy of the painting tradition and creating my own image. Then the female form is not a lifeless object in male creation, but rather a platform of independent expression.
